Welcome to Primos Elementary School!

Built in the 1950s, Primos Elementary School carries a long tradition of excellence. After a brief closure in 1982—during which the building housed the YMCA and served as the community’s public library—the Upper Darby School District reopened and rededicated the school in 1992. Today, Primos welcomes roughly 500 students from Primos, Secane, Clifton Heights, and Aldan.

Our curriculum motivates each child academically while nurturing social–emotional growth and the whole child. As one of the district’s Autistic Support silo programs, the school employs eight specialized teachers who serve about 60 students. A vibrant Home and School Association strengthens our community through family-centered events such as the Back to School Barbecue, Bingo Night, and Breakfast with Santa; it also organizes annual fundraising efforts and distributes weekly Wednesday Communication folders.

Students enjoy a wide range of activities that support both enrichment and well-being. Offerings include AM and PM kindergarten, Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports, inclusion classes, and free or reduced breakfast and lunch programs. A full-time nurse, a fourth- and fifth-grade fitness team, and new multisensory playground equipment promote health and active play. Artistic and leadership opportunities abound through the Chorus, Eagle Choir, Orff Ensemble, instrumental instruction, Student Council, and Safety Patrol.

While we celebrate past accomplishments, we continue to set ambitious goals. Primos Elementary remains committed to delivering the highest-quality education and fostering a lifelong love of learning in every child we serve.
